Just returned from producing in Australia & New York. In Australia I produced
a new CD on Aussie country legend, Lee Cownway. In New York I just finished
up production in the next Toni Brown Band Cd "Dare To Dream" for Relix
Records.
While in New York, I did the Poconos Festival with Toni Brown and jammed at
the festival's finale with Jorma from The Jefferson Airplane..........
The Burritos will be headlining the Tamworth Music Festival in Tamworth,
Australia on January 25th along with The Amazing Rythm Aces. Select dates in
Australia will be added around the same time.
You might catch an old clip of me on VH1 this week when they air a documentay
on Rick Nelson. Im in the segment from 1979's Saturday Night Live with Rick
along with Bobby Neil. Just recently, I purchased back my old original 56
tele I played with Ricky back then, from a collector in Pittsburg. It has one
of the very early Parsons/White BBenders with a Scruggs peg on the big
e-string.....It originally belonged to Hearts & Flowers founder Larry
Murray...Ive been playing it since I was 18. Used it on all the Swampwater
sessions....The guitar is autographed by: ROGER McGUINN,
LARRY MURRAY, CHET ATKINS, AL BRUNO, THUMBS CARLILE, RICK NELSON, JAMES
BURTON, MARIA HOLLY (BUDDY'S WIFE), DR. JOHN,, THE NITTY GRITTY DIRST BAND,
THE BELLAMY BROS, RAY PRICE, GEORGE JONES, JJ CALE, BOBBY NEIL, CHARLIE
PRIDE, GLEN CAMPBELL, DICKY BETTS, DON HELMS & JERRY RIVERS (DRIFTING
COWBOYS), THE JORDANAIRS, TANYA TUCKER, NICHOLETTE LARSON.....and others.
Its great to have her back home....and back on tour with me.
Adios!

NEW NUMBERS!
JUST IN;
THE FBB NEW CD "SONS OF THE GOLDEN WEST" moves up to 27 on the "Gavin
AMERICANA RADIO" charts this week .
1st single from the CD will be "ANYONE ELSE BUT YOU" featuring guest
performances by Alison Krauss & Sam Bush. The tune was originally recorded by
Ricky Nelson back in the early days of his career. John Beland played the
song behind Rick when he was Nelson's lead player with The Stone Canyon Band
in the late 70's. The single will be released through Arista's country
division.
A special "thanks" to http://jambands.com for the nod of approval. They
pretty much summed it all up.
Look for an upcoming feature in COUNTRY SONG ROUND UP...and don't forget the
August Issue of RELIX MAGAZINE (on sale in July) for John and the band's
feature.
The web sight (flyingburritobrothers.com) has been updated. FBB Tshirts
should be available in the next two weeks.
John Beland will be guesting with The Toni Brown Band at festivals in
Lewisburg, P.A, and The Poconos July 31 & August 7th. Beland will be in the
studio wrapping up production & mixing down The Toni Brown Band CD while in
N.Y.
Much more news to come, including updates on the October Europe tour.
Take care & "thanks everyone"

The Burrito's latest "SONS OF THE GOLDEN WEST" was the number 1 most added CD
on Americana Radio last week. Look for it to debut on the charts next week!
We have recieved a flood of email from both here and abroad on "SONS OF THE
GOLDEN WEST" since its release last week. The response has been very positive
and we thank everyone for the kind words. A special nod of thanks to fans in
Scotland, Switzerland, Spain, Italy, and Germany. We're knocked out that the
new CD has been recieved so well abroad.
John Beland just returned from New York after a busy two weeks in the studio
and guest appearing with The Toni Brown Band (Relix Records) at The Sterling
Stage Festival. John was finishing up production on Toni and the band's next
CD. One track features John & Toni together on a remake of the Blind Faith
classic "CAN'T FIND MY WAY HOME."
The FLYING BURRITO BROTHERS feature in Relix will appear in the August issue,
available on the stands in late July. Also look for interviews on country
music.com in the next week or so. Many more features will be showing up in
the coming months.
FLYING BURRITO BROTHERS t-shirts will be available on our new merchandising
page (www.flyingburritobrothers.com) in the next week.
For those of you who are wondering why we have'nt added any new updates on
our sight , its because we have changed servers and are now in the proccess
of revamping everything. We're trying to personally answer every email that
comes in, but since the release of the CD we have been getting quite a bit
(nice problem)...we appreciate your patience and we'll try to get back to
everyone asap.
Someone asked if the track 'UP ON SYCAMORE" was written about Larry Murray of
The Hearts & Flowers. John answers;
"Yes it is, and I'm surprised you found out! The house on Sycamore was a real
place where singer/songwriters would gather in the early 70's, and pass the
guitar around. It was the home of Larry and his then wife, Laurette. It was
located (and still is) just above The Magic Castle in Hollywood. Just up the
street from where Janis Joplin died. What made these gatherings so special
was the fact that the players were future country / rock legends, as well as
great artists from Australia (like Brian Cadd & Digby Richards) and
Nashville, Tennessee (like the late Johnny Darrell & Kris Kristofferson).
Larry was responsible for helping many of these great talents get
started...and the song is a very special one for me."
Somebody from Ireland asked how many takes it took for RICKY SKAGGS to play
his mandolin on "PIONEER ZEPHYR TRAIN." The answer is "2."
Another Burrito fan asked the name of the announcer on the intro to 'DOWN AT
THE PALOMINO." That was former KLAC radio great, CORKY MAYBERRY. Also, the
band in the background is us..singing "Sin City" taken from a concert we did
last year in Norway.
Thats about it for now. Again, the band thanks you for all the great email.
Looks like 'SONS OF THE GOLDEN WEST" is off and running. Take care!

Someone recently emailed us asking if the new Burritos will be featuring any
of the old Gram Parsons songs in future performances. The answer is "yes".
We will be doing a special segment in the new show featuring early Burrito
classics such as, "CHRISTINES TUNE", "HICKORY WIND", "DARK END OF THE
STREET", "SIN CITY" and a few others. The show will also feature songs from
