The Beginning of Donor-Recipient Coordination....Confirmation of the donor's health and his or
her desire to continue the donation process.

5. The interview with the coordinator and the physical Exam.
The coordinator will confirm your desire (your family's consent) to proceed at this point. Then, the confirmatory Exam. - further questions and another blood test, the third Exam. - will be done by the doctor.During this Exam. we check the donor's physical condition and the HLA compatibility in further detail.

Confirmatory typing
In order to have a successful transplantation, HLA genes from the donor and the patient must completely match. The compatibility is assessed using a method called DNA typing.

6DThe final consent:A great responsibility
If the third Exam.confirms a candidate as a suitable donor, the coordinator and the doctor give a detailed explanation about bone marrow transplantation and confirm the final intent of the candidate, as well as the desires of his or her family.
A third person, such as a lawyer, will be present to ascertain that the explanation was fully understood and the consent entirely voluntary.
* Your signature on the final letter of consent is a very serious agreement. Please take your time and talk with your family before you make up your mind. You cannot retract your offer once you have given your final consent.

Following the final consent, a complete physical Exam.is carried out and the schedule for the bone marrow extraction decided. The donor's convenience and wishes will be taken into consideration in scheduling and selecting the hospital, etc..
