The plateau was originally a coral reef which formed in the ocean and was carried to the continent by tectonic plate movement. During this movement, part of the limestone turned upside down. Another event which affected the limestone was igneous activity, an activity which caused a part of the rock to transform to crystalline limestone about 70 million years ago. |
